About the studio

Nearly 40 years of building things that work.

Tinderbox Labs is a custom software, publishing, and game development studio. We bring nearly four decades of software systems design, development, architecture, and deployment to every project, along with a modern, AI-augmented way of working.

The name

Why “Tinderbox”?

A tinderbox held everything you needed to start a fire: flint, steel, and dry tinder, packed small enough to carry anywhere.

That's the studio we set out to build: a compact team that carries everything needed to take an idea from its first spark to a steady, lasting flame.

Flint
ExperienceNearly four decades of systems design, architecture, and deployment across every major platform shift.
Steel

Tinder

Experience

Years of platform shifts.

We've designed, built, and deployed software through every major change in how software gets made. The tools keep changing; the fundamentals of good systems don't.

How we work

What we believe.

Experience over hype

New tools are exciting. We adopt them when they make your product better, not because they're new.

Ship early, ship real

A working product in users' hands beats a perfect plan in a slide deck, every time.

Architecture is a feature

Fast doesn't have to mean fragile. Good foundations are what let you keep moving quickly later.

Plain talk

Honest estimates, clear trade-offs, and no jargon used to hide bad news.

Build for the next engineer

Readable code, real documentation, and tests, because someone will need to change it.

AI with accountability

AI speeds us up, and an experienced engineer reviews and owns every line that ships.
